Accepted Practices Exchange Commission
Standards, practices and research to elevate the events industry
Practical tools and accepted practices for a changing business events industry
The business events industry continues to evolve in response to shifting expectations, new technologies, emerging risks and the changing needs of our global workforce. The Events Industry Council’s APEX Resources are designed to help event professionals navigate that complexity with practical, relevant and globally informed tools.
Led by the APEX Commission, these resources support the development, maintenance and implementation of accepted practices that strengthen the efficiency, consistency and positive impact of business events. They are created for organisers, suppliers, venues, destinations, associations, corporations and other professionals across the events ecosystem who are seeking clear guidance, shared language and practical frameworks to support their work.
Updating the resources for today’s workforce
As part of EIC’s ongoing commitment to advocacy, workforce development and future readiness, the APEX Commission in partnership with Gevme has undertaken a new initiative to review, update and modernise its resources.
This work recognises that event professionals are operating in a more complex environment than ever before. Risk management, accessibility, technology, sustainability, attendee expectations, data security, workforce pressures and evolving business models are all shaping how events are planned and delivered.
The updated APEX Resources are being designed to be more accessible, practical and interactive — helping professionals at every stage of their career apply accepted practices in real-world settings. The goal is to ensure these tools remain relevant, easy to use and aligned with the needs of today’s global business events workforce.
About the APEX Commission
For more than two decades, the Accepted Practices Exchange — known as APEX — has helped define and advance industry-wide practices for the business events sector. Convened by EIC, the APEX Commission brings together volunteer leaders and subject matter experts from across the global events community to identify needs, develop resources and support consistent practices that can be adopted across sectors and regions.
The Commission’s work has included operational templates, guidebooks, glossary resources and reference tools that help event professionals plan, communicate, assess risk and deliver events with greater clarity and confidence.
At its core, APEX reflects one of EIC’s most important roles: gathering the collective expertise of the industry to create resources that elevate professionalism, support better decision-making and help the sector prepare for what comes next.
